Dr. Mark Rerick

A graduate of LeMoyne College in his hometown of Syracuse, New York, Rerick holds a PH.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Notre Dame. He joined the PC faculty in 1960 as an assistant professor of chemistry, and was elevated to tenure status in 1968. He was promoted to full professor in 1969.

Outside the classroom, one of the achievements Rerick is particularly proud of is working with other members of the chemistry department on the plans for the renovations of the Albertus Magnus Hall chemistry laboratories, which then led to the construction of the Sowa Hall.

As a faculty member, Rerick said some highlights of his PC career are being a charter member of the Faculty Senate in the mid-60s, and also being a part of the original AAUP (American Association of University Professors) group, serving as president of the PC chapter from 1968-71.
Rerick was also involved with the establishing of the MLK, Jr. Scholarship Program in 1968. Rerick notes that many faculty, including himself through is last paycheck, continue to contribute to the MLK, Jr. Scholarship Program.

"In the case of Mark Rerick, emeritus status represents the acknowledgement of his departmental and collegiate colleagues that his contributions to the College's development, to the well-being of the faculty, to the education of students, and to the advancement of his field have been extraordinary." - Dr. Thomas L Canavan, former Vice President of Academic Administration
