  • Providence College is a Catholic institution of higher learning and is the only college in the United States run under the auspices of the Dominican priests.
  • Providence College is a liberal arts college and offers 50 majors, 34 minors, and a variety of special programs and concentrations.
  • Providence College is primarily an undergraduate college.  All classes and labs are taught by a professor, never by graduate or teaching assistants.
  • Average class size is 22.  Student to faculty ratio is 12:1.
  • The Development of Western Civilization is a two-year course that all of our freshmen and sophomores take.  The course is interdisciplinary in nature and takes a chronological approach towards teaching the history, philosophy, theology, literature, and fine arts of western civilization.
  • Through the services offered by the Career Services Office, career preparation begins freshman year at Providence College and students can pursue a variety of internship, employment, and professional school opportunities.
  • Each year, around 20% of the junior class opts to Study Abroad at such institutions as Oxford University in England, Kansai-Gaidai University in Japan, University of Dublin in Ireland, University of Salamanca in Spain, among many others.
  • Providence College boasts of an active community.  95% of the student body lives either on campus or within a half-mile radius of campus.
  • PC offers over 70 clubs and organizations for students to get involved in.  Among them is the Student Congress office, through which students can start new clubs if they are not already available.
  • PC has one of the highest participation rates in the country for intramural athletics.
  • The Friar is the PC team mascot.  All varsity athletics are Division I.  Prospective students interested in competing can get in touch with coaches and fill out an interest questionnaire on our athletics webpage.
  • The city of Providence is a thriving Renaissance city.  There are five colleges within the city and Providence has the largest concentration of college students per capita in the county.
