The Office of Graduate Studies occasionally has openings for Graduate Assistantships for the upcoming semesters. They are offered each year by Providence College to give financial aid to graduate students.
Graduate assistantships are limited to accepted degree candidates who are enrolled on a full time basis. Graduate assistants will generally work under the direction of Program Directors. Duties could include writing assigned news stories for the college publications, assisting faculty with research projects, assisting faculty with computer issues, conducting library research, and helping to coordinate commencement activities.
Graduate assistants are required to spend a maximum of 20 hours a week at these duties. The course load must consist of a minimum of nine hours per semester and at least three hours in one of the summer sessions.
Graduate assistants receive a stipend of $700/month in the first year of their assistantship and $750/month in the second year of their assistantship. Assistants also receive remission of tuition fees for the academic year and summer session. Appointments to assistantships are for one year and renewals must be recommended to the dean of Graduate Studies by the program director.
