The management curriculum develops management competence in liberal arts students to prepare them for local, national, and global leadership positions in 21st-century organizations.  Management competence means having the critical knowledge and skills necessary to lead modern organizations in changing times. 

The Department of Management offers core management courses to help management majors build a variety of skills they will need to meet these challenges.  The management curriculum also provides the flexibility of electives, which allow students to choose a specialization as a potential career area.  The specializations are:

  • Management Information Systems
  • International Business
  • Entrepreneurship/Leadership

The management curriculum is closely aligned with the liberal arts objectives of Providence College.  Business leaders are increasingly looking for college graduates not only with a background in core management courses but also with a background in the liberal arts.  The Department of Management offers core management courses to help management majors build a variety of skills they will need in the business environment.

The Department of Management offers its majors a number of valuable options both inside and outside of the classroom.  These options include:

  • management internships
  • foreign language study or study abroad
  • examination of current management issues
  • independent study projects in the senior year
  • career placement center
  • valuable alumni network
  • Department of Management Student Advisory Board 

Career possibilities for management majors include:
