The Providence College School of Business mission is to provide a values-based business education, integrated with the liberal arts and grounded in the Catholic and Dominican tradition.   As such the School is dedicated to developing well-rounded graduates who have consistently confronted real-world / real-time organizational challenges and who, through the school's cohesive and integrated environment, have developed resiliency and ability to learn and transform themselves, their organizations, and their communities.


Dr. Sue Lehrman, Dean

Dr. Sue Lehrman, Professor, was appointed the Founding Dean of the School of Business at Providence College, effective January 1, 2008.

Prior to joining Providence College, Dr. Lehrman was the Founding President and Dean of the faculty at Union Graduate College in Schenectady, NY. She has taught courses in management, marketing, strategic planning and health care management since 1993, attaining the rank of full professor in 2003. Following positions as the director of MBA Programs and Dean of Graduate Education at Union College, Dr. Lehrman guided the development of Union Graduate College as it became an independent affiliate of Union College and an incorporated and accredited institution in 2002-03.   

Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Lehrman is responsible for the development of three new degree programs at Union Graduate College, including a joint master of science in bioethics program with Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Under her direction, Union College's MBA programs achieved AACSB standards; the college also achieved accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.

Dr. Lehrman holds a doctorate degree from the University of California at Berkeley's Program in Health Services Administration and Policy Analysis, as well as a master of public health degree from the same institution. Her bachelor of science degree was earned at Oregon State University.  Prior to her appointment at Union College, she held various management positions during thirteen years of service with a San Francisco-based hospital system, Seton Health Systems (Now Ascension Health). She has done extensive research, publishing, and consulting in the areas of HIV/AIDS case management and assessing and managing organizational outcomes.
