Marketing involves bringing need-satisfying goods and services from producers to consumers.  It is successful to the extent that it correctly identifies the needs, develops the right products, and makes them available where and when the consumers want at reasonable prices.

Marketing careers require a wide range of abilities and skills:  analytical skills to identify and assess problems and opportunities, to determine information needs and alternative solutions, and to choose a course of action or make decisions; creative skills to develop new ideas, services, or products; and organizational, leadership, and communication skills to get those ideas, services, or products to the market.

The marketing program helps students become familiar with the marketing process and with the theoretical concepts, tools, and skills necessary to successfully enter and advance in the global marketing arena.

Career possibilities for the marketing major include:

  • Promotion
  • Product and Brand Management
  • Customer Relations
