Achievements-
Davis Educational Foundation Grant:  Faculty Instructional Technology Grant.
Title:   Incorporating Technology into Financial Accounting Using PowerPoint, ANGEL and eGrade.
Presented a Poster Session for this grant at the 2nd Annual Instructional Technology Showcase.

Co-sponsored a Symposium with M. Ruggieri in October 2003 for approximately 130 high school educators from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut called "Building Successful Students: Connect Your Classroom to the World of Buisness."

Poster presentation demonstrated the adoption of PowerPoint and Angel into a Financial Accounting course, creating an interactive online course easily accessed by PC students.  A number of strategies were incorporated: animated PowerPoints were created and uploaded to Angel; select and current pieces from Wall Street Journal and other periodicals were uploaded to Angel to act as a catalyst for class discussion; video clips were converted to digital form and uploaded to Angel for students' viewing outside of class; an interactive Angel discussion board was used; and students did a percentage of their homework using eGrade (an interactive software application).  These assignments were then electronically submitted to the instructor via Angel, thus allowing the instructor to see not only the percentage of completed homework but also its accuracy.  Moreover, students routinely downloaded step-by-step solutions so they could formulate questions for their next class session.

Current Research Projects/Student Collaborations  -
Submitted article: "The Magic of IRC Section 1031: Capital Gain Taxes are Deferred & Perhaps Disappear!" to the Journal of Accounting & Finance (now under review).  Presented this article at the American Academy of Accounting & Finance annual Meeting in November 2004 in New Orleans.

Co-presented a poster session with Margaret Ruggieri at American Accounting Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco, August 10, 2005, on teaching students to analyze annual reports.
