Content and Scope: During the period 1929 to 1931, due to inconsistent officiating and a rash of ugly incidents at high school football games, the state secondary principals' association and 25 independent football referees organized the Association of Football Officials of Rhode Island. With the goals of protecting the participants in the games and the integrity of the sport, the Association trains its members and conducts clinics. Divided chronologically, subgroups include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, membership lists and photographs, clippings, rule books and history highlights (e.g., significant games, rules and equipment changes, etc.).
