Content and Scope: These papers contain journals, proposals, correspondence, committee reports and other material regarding an attempt to rewrite the Rhode Island Constitution. In 1968 the voters overwhelmingly rejected the document produced by the Convention delegates. Also included are speeches, press releases and correspondence relating to the unsuccessful drive for ratification led by Patrick T. Conley, a Convention research staff assistant and the principal donor of the Collection.
