Phillips Memorial Library has a variety of desktop and laptop computers, as well as self-serve scanning stations and wireless access, available as a part of the Library + Commons. These computers are available for faculty and student use during all library hours.
Public Reference Computers
The library features over 70 Pentium IV desktop public reference computers throughout our first and second floors. These computers access the campus network through wireless access points on each floor of the library. All computers feature standard productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite. In addition, two computers on each floor serve as Self-Serve Scanning Stations and feature flatbed scanners and Adobe Photoshop Elements and Acrobat software.
Laptop Computers
Thirty Windows-based laptop computers are available for eligible patrons to check out for two-hour use within the library building. Fully configured to access the library’s wireless network, the laptops include the same software as the public reference computers. Ask at the circulation desk to check out one of these computers.
Macintosh Computers
In addition to our publicly available Windows computers, the library also has several Apple Macintosh computers. These are iMac G4 computers running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), with Microsoft Office Suite 2008, and feature attached flatbed scanners, CD/DVD burners, and the full Adobe C3 Suite (Photohop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, etc).
The Information Station (Main Floor, Front Entrance) features a 17-inch iMac computer with attached scanner, as one of the library’s Self-Serve Scanning Stations.
The Creation Station/Macintosh Lab (Main Floor, Room 110) features four 24-inch iMac computers with attached scanners. This lab is open and available for use during regular library hours. Support for these new resources can be found at the Digital Services Lab, found on the main floor of the library to the left of the Macintosh Lab.
