Creation Station/Macintosh Lab

Phillips Memorial Library, Main Floor, Room 110
Hours: Open For Patron Use During Regular Library Hours

Phillips Memorial Library’s new student and faculty collaborative computer lab, featuring Macintosh computers running Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard) (recently updated). This lab features two 24-inch iMac Macintosh Computers with full Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Microsoft Office 2008 (recently updated ), and Apple iLife Software.

The Creation Station/Macintosh Lab is available for use by all Faculty and Students during regular Library Hours.

Macintosh computers & scanners are also publicly available for use at the Information Station, as well as on a more limited basis in the Digital Services Lab. Four additional self-serve scanners are also available on public PCs on both the first and second floors.

For assistance with Macintosh computers, scanners, or software, ask at the Digital Services Lab (Main Floor, Room 111, by the rear stairwell)

The Digital Services Lab features the following technology:

Four 24-inch iMac computers

  • Featuring Intel Core 2 Duo chips, running Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard)
  • CD/DVD drive with burning capabilities
  • USB port on keyboard, for use with flash drives
  • 3 USB 2.0, 1 Firewire 400, and 1 Firewire 800 ports on back
  • Built in iSight camera, for video conferencing or chatting
  • Access to personal network drive when you log-in

Three Epson flatbed scanners

  • For scanning letter sized originals or from books or magazines
  • Transparency adapter available for scanning from slides or 35 mm film (ask for adapter at Digital Services Lab or Information Station)
  • Can scan through Adobe Photoshop or Acrobat software

Software on both machines includes:

Adobe Creative Suite 3

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional (creating and editing PDF files)
  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 (editing and manipulating photographs)
  • Adobe Illustrator CS3 (creating illustrations and diagrams)
  • Adobe InDesign CS3 (desktop publishing program)
  • Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 (web site creation)

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac (recently updated)

  • Microsoft Word 2008
  • Microsoft Excel 2008
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2008 

Apple iLife 2008 software  (recently updated)

  • iMovie (basic video editing)
  • iDVD (basic DVD authoring)
  • Garage Band (basic music and audio editing)
  • iWeb (web site creation)
  • iPhoto (digital photograph management)
