The Liaison Program

"liaison...a close connection and co-operation between two units"
...Oxford English Dictionary

The major objective for the library liaison program is to become a "partner" in the educational programs of Providence College. One way the staff of the Library can better serve our students is to be more closely connected with those who teach them, i.e., the faculty. Individual library staff have volunteered to work with the academic departments and programs:

  • to serve as the main library contact person
  • to provide information about basic library services to new faculty
  • to assist in building the book, periodical and database collections
  • to analyze the collections, both print and electronic
  • to arrange for subject-specific library-use instruction
  • to increase the amount of communication between faculty and library staff
