After consultation with College officials, Mrs. Luise M. Fogarty notified William Paul Haas, O.P., President of Providence College, that she would donate her husband's papers to the College
October, 1967
John E. Fogarty Papers deposited on campus
May 1, 1968
Providence College received grant from the National Library of Medicine to develop an inventory and other finding aids for this nationally important Collection of primary source material re: the history of health science legislation
September, 1968
Matthew J. Smith appointed as Archivist
January, 1969
Archives moved from Stephen Hall (now Feinstein Academic Center) to new Phillips Memorial Library
April 1969
Administration approved efforts to acquire other Special Collections of individuals and organizations playing a leading role in the political and cultural history of our State and region during the twentieth century
January 15, 1970
College officials resolved to make the College Archives the information center for institutional history and established the oversight College Archives and Special Collections Committee
