The Phillips Memorial Library is a depository for federal and Rhode Island state documents. The depository collections cover a wide range of topics, from nutrition to warfare, from Narragansett Bay to lead poisoning. The depositories hold over 250,000 documents in an array of formats, with significant collections of Census materials, ERIC documents, GAO reports, and Congressional hearings.
The library has been a federal government documents depository since 1969. Currently, the library receives approximately 33% of all documents made available to the public through the depository program. The collection consists of documents in paper, in microform, on CD, DVD, videocassette and published on the Web. There are maps, data sets, reports, hearings and recordings in the collection.
The library is a full depository of Rhode Island state documents. The collection dates back to 1996 when the Rhode Island State Documents Clearinghouse was established by state law.
All documents received since 1998 are listed in the HELIN library catalog.
All documents may be borrowed.
