Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is to impart knowledge in inspiring ways so that the process of learning connects with the students' values with respect to critical inquiry for life-long learning and truth. My role as a faculty member is not a matter of pouring knowledge into a student but developing a student's inherent knowledge to greater depths. It is that process of mutual inspiration between students and faculty that brings about academic excellence and transcends all barriers to learning.

Research & Interests

My research focus is on understanding the globalization of firms from two perspectives: the use of global strategic alliances and the development of global capabilities. As a result, the scope of my scholarly activities is global and includes research projects and presentations in countries such as Australia, Belgium, China, England, France, Italy, and Slovenia.  My most recent grant was awarded in 2003 to conduct research at the World Bank and at the United Nations on global collaborative models among Industry, Government, and Academia to explore new approaches to develop global capabilities.

My work keeps me current in my field and allows me to better understand and share global perspectives with my undergraduate and graduate students. I thoroughly enjoy the interactive learning experience and the students' involvement in the discussion of research projects.
