Dr. James Carlson
Professor of Political Science
Dr. William Hudson
Professor of Political Science
Thank you so much for contacting me after the death of my beloved husband, Randy Hien. It meant so much to me that you remembered who I was. You made such an impact on my life as a person and as a professional. You taught me to always question, to make informed decisions and to go beyond our own self-interests. My oldest son John (I have 6 children aged 3-18) is now a freshman at URI. I hope that he will have the same good fortune that I had in his college experience. Thank you for all that you do.
Sincerely,
Patti (Brown) Hien '87
Dr. Roger B. Carmosino
Associate Professor of Modern Languages
My thanks go out to Dr. Carmosino in the Modern Languages Department. I enjoyed his classes tremendously -- his conversational class challenged me and gave me the confidence to study abroad in Spain. He was my advisor and always available for my visits. Dr. Carmosino was also a family man, which as a working parent now, I appreciate with full understanding of the dual commitment to work and family.

Rev. James A. Driscoll, O.P.
Assistant Professor of Theology
Hi Father D. I'm sure you don't remember me, but you saved me many times while living at Joseph's. I have always appreciated it and have spoken highly of you since then. My family knows also. Now I just have to wait until my 7-year-old can make it to PC.
Thanks again,
Gimpo (Thomas M. White '84)
Dr. Suzanne Fournier
Associate Professor of English
Dr. John Lawless
Assistant Professor of History
Dr. Stephen Lynch
Professor of English
During my time at PC (1991-1995), three professors--Dr. Fournier, Dr. Lawless, and Dr. Lynch--made lasting impacts on my life. These professors helped me to write and speak clearly, argue my position with respect and passion, and most of all, they taught me to believe in myself. Even after I graduated, they continued to make a difference in my life. In one way or another, they helped me during my years at grad school or when I was applying for a job or beyond.
I work at a Jesuit high school (sorry it is not Dominican) where we stress cura personalis --the care of the whole person, a masterful attentiveness to the individual. These three people gave me that care, that masterful attention, that love. Because of the way they treated me and pushed me, I was able to organize not just my thoughts but my goals. I am grateful…so, so grateful.
Go PC!
Mr. Michael A. Gomez '95

Kathryn (Parrella) Calnan, Class of 1994
Dr. Jeri Gillin
Assistant Professor of Education
Dr. Susan Skawinski
Associate Professor of Education
Thank you for all of your guidance and support throughout my years at PC. You were always there with encouragement and positive feedback as I earned my education and literacy degrees. The stories that you shared with me about your own experiences in the classroom, along with your knowledge of the content areas, was invaluable. I still think about what wonderful teachers you were and the great lessons I learned from you as I teach in my own classroom today. Thank you again for being so patient, caring, and supportive. Through your example, I learned what it means to be a "really good" teacher. I will never forget you.
Sincerely,
Jessica (Butt) Pirozzi '00/Graduate School '01
Dr. Bruce Graver

Thank you for encouraging my thesis and tolerating every Wednesday meeting that I didn't have progress to show.

Assistant Professor of Psychology

I'd like to thank Father Guido, who challenged me as a student, and cared for me as a person.

Dr. Deborah Johnson
Professor of Art/Art History
I am currently enrolled in an MFA program that is ranked 4th in the nation for photography. What I learned from the Art History Department at Providence gave me such a fantastic base and overall knowledge of the history of art. My History of Photography class with Dr. Johnson far exceeds my current History of Photography class. Mr. Elkington taught me techniques that I use almost every time I am in the darkroom. I am grateful to the entire Art Department at Providence. They were a very important part in my development as an artist.

Dr. Catherine Keating
Assistant Professor of Education
Thanks to you, Dr. Keating, I am still teaching. Your dedication, passion for learning, as well as your creativity encouraged and challenged me to learn. I try continually to bring that to my students each day. When they know that someone loves to learn and believes that they can -- they do! I did thanks to you!
Kindest regards and deepest thanks,
Maura McGuire '82
Dr. Raphael Shargel
Associate Professor of English
Thank you for making me work harder on a paper than I ever have and being damn proud of that B+/A-.
Colleen C. Flynn '07
Dr. Michael D. Spiegler
Professor of Psychology
Dr. Spiegler showed me the greatness of using humor in work and life, the importance of attention to details, and gave me confidence to take on the unknown when it comes my way. Life is good and I cherish it everyday. You taught me a great deal. Thank you!
Kevin Byrne '97
Dr. Yinsheng Wan
Associate Professor of Biology
Dr. Wan has always been there during and post graduate years. His teaching style was conducive to learning, and his advice has always stayed with me. I would not have applied to my current job if he had not provided positive feedback regarding this company. I would not have been accepted to my first job post-graduation without a glowing recommendation from him, and I would not have found my fiancé, if I did not work at my current company! Three years post-graduation, he did not hesitate to write a letter of recommendation for me to return back to school (and send it out the same day!). Dr. Wan has truly been a positive influence in my life, and he will never be forgotten.
Thank you,
