Course Renumbering Information
New Guidelines: All academic departments and programs have undergone a review of all existing courses in an effort to have more consistent and meaningful course numbering for all of their courses. It is important to cautiously review your course registration as nearly 40% of all courses offered at the college have been renumbered. To download a complete listing of all courses that have been renumbered, click here (Excel, 46KB).
Under this new numbering, courses will be more clearly and consistently assigned according to the following scheme:
- 100-level: introductory or gateway courses to specific majors or programs of study; pre-requisites may consist of other 100-level courses.
- 200-level: intermediate level courses; may have pre-requisites of 100 or 200-level courses; more advanced than 100-level offerings.
- 300-level: upper-division courses; may have pre-requisites of 100, 200, or 300-level courses; more advanced than 100 or 200-level courses. May include internship, independent study or tutorial courses.
- 400-level: advanced upper-division courses; may have pre-requisites of 100, 200, 300, or 400-level courses; more advanced than 100, 200, or 300-level courses; may include internship, independent study or tutorial courses.
While course numbers have change, the majority of courses titles have remained the same. Therefore, the easiest way to approach your course registration will be to focus on the TITLE of the courses for which you intend to register. The exceptions are as follows:
