The Student Congress is the only body on campus that is representative of the entire student body. Its purpose is to represent the student body in all facets of college life. The Congress is elected annually in the spring in a campus-wide election. The Congress meets weekly during the academic year and periodically over the summer months. Traditionally, the Vice President for Student Services is the moderator of the Student Congress. The Congress has three primary functions:
-
to serve as the primary student voice on campus
-
to dispense student activities fees to subordinate organizations
-
to work with the coordinator of student activities/programs to coordinate various student activities and committees.
The president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary are elected annually by the entire student body. Officers and representatives of the Student Congress are elected by each class. All serve for a term of one year.
Representatives from Student Congress serve on most college committees, including the Committee on Administration.
