
The Faculty Senate of Providence College is an elected body of faculty which has the authority to initiate and regulate policies of the College, subject to the veto of the President of the College. Approved by the Corporation of Providence College on November 9, 1967, the Faculty Senate is vested with specific powers to recommend curricular policies and to review, revise, or coordinate such policies when formulated by committees of the college for undergraduate and graduate studies prior to their official promulgation.
The Faculty Senate also reviews and proposes policies pertaining to departmental organization and procedures, college admissions, the library and recommends guidelines concerning matters of faculty welfare and reviews and revises requirements for initial appointment, promotion, ranking and tenure of the Faculty.
