Please visit the Copy Center  Web page at http://www.pccopycenter.com  to order business cards, letterhead, envelopes, and labels. You can also access online templates for letterhead and fax cover sheets.

Setting up Providence College Letterhead & Fax Templates

Close and save all files you have been working on.

Go to http://internal.providence.edu/college-relations. From the index, copy and paste the files PCLetterhead.dot and Pcfax.dot to: C:/windows/application data/Microsoft/templates.

You will need to install ATM and the AGaramond font on your computer and revise your MS Word templates to reflect your office information.

Installing ATM and AGaramond
I. Download Files

  1. Click “Save” on the file download dialog box.
  2. In the save box, click on “desktop” to save GSF.zip to your desktop.
  3. Click on “save.”
  4. When the file is finished downloading, click “close” and then close Netscape/Internet Explorer window.

II. Extract Files

  1. Double-click on “GSF.zip” (which is on your desktop). If you have the trial version of Winzip, click on “I agree.” Click on “extract.” Extract to c:\windows\desktop. Click on “extract.” Close Winzip.
  2. Double-click on the file named “atm41eng.exe” (which is on your desktop).
  3. Winzip Self-Extractor [ATM41ENG.EXE] will open. Click on “unzip.” Click on “ok.”

III. ATM

  1. Adobe Type Manager Self Installer will open.
  2. Click on “next,” “yes,” and/or “finish” when prompted.
  3. When “read me” file opens, close it.
  4. Click “finish” to restart your computer.

IV. Fonts

  1. Using Explorer, drag all font files (red A’s) from desktop to the c:\“windows” folder. Do not put in font directory.
  2. Open Adobe Type Manager.
  3. Click on “start.”
  4. Click on “programs.”
  5. Click on “Adobe.”
  6. Click on “Adobe Type Manager” (folder).
  7. Click on “Adobe Type Manager 4.1” (program – a red A).
  8. On right side of ATM window, find “Windows” and double-click.
  9. Highlight all six versions of Adobe Garamond (red A’s).
  10. Click on “add.”
  11. Close Adobe Type Manager.

V. Conclusion
1. Drag GSF.zip and atm41eng.exe from desktop to the recycle bin and empty.

You have now loaded ATM on your computer and added AGaramond to your fonts list.


Revising templates to reflect your office/department information

  1. In MS Word click on “file/new.”
  2. Select “Pcltrhd.dot” from your “general” menu options.
  3. In that same window under “create new,” click on “template.”
  4. Click “OK.”
  5. In that file, under “view,” click on “header & footer.”
  6. In the header, change the department name to your department.
  7. In the footer, change the phone number and fax number.
  8. Click on “close.”
  9. Save the template by replacing the original template you opened – click on “save.”
  10. Select “Pcltrhd.dot” and click on “save.”
  11. Click “yes” to replace exsisting file.
  12. Close template file.
  13. Repeat these instructions for the fax template named Pcfax.dot.

Your template is now personalized for your department.
