What we do
The Publications Center has a dual focus: it provides campus news and information as well as communications and marketing support for College departments and programs.
Three periodical publications keep the Providence College community educated and informed of campus news and policies; of the deeds and accomplishments of students, faculty and staff, and alumni; and of emerging trends and issues in higher education.
The SPECTRUM is a biweekly newspaper for faculty and staff. Providence DIGEST—a quarterly news and information publication—and providence magazine—published three times annually to report on major College initiatives and higher education developments—are distributed to alumni, parents, community and government leaders, as well as internally. The Publications Center also produces, for the Office of Institutional Advancement, e•newsPC, a monthly electronic newsletter.
The Publications Center supports the communications and marketing needs of College departments, offices, and programs by helping them develop publications to meet their objectives. We provide editorial and creative services including concept development, graphic design, proofreading, layout, and bid management for projects ranging from College catalogs and course bulletins to institutional advertising.
To achieve informational, editorial, and graphic accuracy and consistency, Providence College has developed for all its publications, print and electronic, and for the use of the greater College community an Information Resource Guide (IRG). The IRG is comprised of the Web-based, information-oriented College Descriptors Compendium and the hard-copy Editorial Standards Manual and the Graphic Standards Manual. The Publications Center is charged with implementing these resources.
