Providence, RI--The 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report's popular college guide, America's Best Colleges, finds Providence College in familiar and prestigious company.
Providence is ranked No. 2 in the North Region's "Best Universities-Master's" category--the designation for 572 universities nationwide that offer a full range of undergraduate and master's programs. Since 1997, U.S. News consistently has ranked Providence College among the top three regional universities in the north.
With an improved "peer assessment" score (3.7 of a possible 5.0)--reflecting the judgment of top academics who responded to the U.S. News survey and rated peer schools' academic programs--Providence College's overall score places it in the No. 2 spot among nearly 90 ranked institutions in the North Region for the 11th time since 1997.

The College's 87 percent average graduation rate--considered a key factor in judging schools by U.S. News editors--is the highest among its peer institutions nationwide. Providence's average freshmen retention rate of 92% ranks it among the top five schools nationally in its designated category.
Providence College also is listed among the top 10 schools in its classification offering the "best value," which relates a school's academic quality to the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid.
