Alumni Represent PC in New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade

Providence, RI--A contingency of over 50 Providence College alumni and friends marched in New York City's 247th St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17, 2008.  From Brian Maher '68, vice president of the National Alumni Association, to Rev. Benedict Croell, O.P. '93G, who served five years in the Dominican missions, many traveled to the Big Apple to join in the annual trek up 5th Avenue. Leading the delegation was Paul Belmonte '80, president of the Alumni Association's New York chapter. Also marching were seven representatives of the College's ROTC, led by Gary Fortunato, Battalion Sergeant Major in the PC's Department of Military Science.

The Providence College group was among 150 marching units in the parade and followed the band from Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI. The delegation passed both St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Metropolitan Museum of Art along the parade route that stretched from 44th to 88th Street.
