Providence, R.I.--The Providence College Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) will host an open house on Monday, September 14, in its refurbished office in the Feinstein Academic Center (Room 304).
The open house, which is co-sponsored by the College's Instructional Technology Development Program (ITDP), will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Dr. Laurie L. Grupp, director of the CTE, said the event is an opportunity for the College community to see the renovated space and learn more about the programming offered by the CTE and ITDP.
The CTE's mission is to advance the cause of college teaching by working with faculty members to cultivate an institutional climate in which teaching is highly valued and which promotes excellence in student learning.
Among the renovations to the CTE are new display cases that will exhibit faculty work, book cases for more than 500 books, new carpeting and paint, and roughly 100 square feet of additional space.
Grupp said the room, which will be open weekdays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., will continue to host several programs for the College community throughout the academic year and can be used for a quiet work space for faculty.
"The intention is to make the room more available for individual and group use and to allow for more flexibility in the programs we offer," she said.
