Providence, RI--Nancy Andrade of Seekonk, Mass., and Kathryn Angeloni of Ellington, Conn., both achieved the highest academic rank in the program, which is graduating its first four-year class of majors. The mission of the Global Studies Program is to give students an interdisciplinary global perspective on social, economic and political issues, and prepare them to become responsible citizens, critical thinkers, and sensitive individuals with an ability to resist personal and social prejudice.
In addition to similar academic accomplishments that led to Summa Cum Laude graduating honors, Andrade and Angeloni both have made their mark out of the classroom.
Andrade is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and president of the PC Portuguese Club. She has also served on the Board of Multicultural Student Affairs and been named as one of the "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Angeloni is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and is president of the PC Economics Club. In addition, she is an Admission Ambassador, where she assists the Office of Admission in representing PC to prospective students, and works in Campus Ministry.
After graduation, Angeloni will attend Tufts University to seek a master's degree in economics. Their differing career paths, though equally significant, highlight the mission and success of their Global Studies education at Providence College.
