New Providence College National Alumni Association Officials Named; President Highlights Priorities

Providence, R.I.--After serving as vice president of the Providence College National Alumni Association Board of Governors (BOG) for the 2008-2009 fiscal year, Mark U. Gasbarro '97 of Providence was elevated on July 1 to serve as president for 2009-2010.

Gasbarro said the board's priorities for the next year include supporting alumni networking, enhancing the roles of regional alumni clubs, encouraging participation by upperclass students and young alumni in the association, and increasing young alumni leadership.

"The motto that was developed during the past year, 'Embrace Your Network,' will be central to our work this year," noted Gasbarro, adding that the BOG is working to enhance the roles of regional clubs to help develop the alumni network.

Most importantly, Gasbarro said, the board wants to get the word out that "alumni really have to get back to campus" to see how it has been transformed, and to help continue that transformation financially and/or through their volunteer efforts.

"The campus has changed dramatically since Father Shanley became president," Gasbarro said. "There is a new energy on campus, and there have been a lot of successes."
