Providence, R.I.--The opening exhibit of the 2009-10 academic year at Providence College's Hunt-Cavanagh Gallery features the creative art assemblages of Rosalind Fedeli, who owns a studio/gallery in York, Maine.
The exhibit Boxes/Coffers/Shrines, which is presented by the Department of Art and Art History, runs through October 16 in Hunt-Cavanagh Hall Gallery on the College's East Campus. Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays when school is in session.
Boxes/Coffers/Shrines also can viewed from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on September 17 and October 15 during two special Gallery Night Providence showings. There will be a formal opening reception for the exhibit during the evening hours on September 17. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the College community and public.
The exhibit comprises many of the assemblages Fedeli has constructed from materials found at yard sales, flea markets, beaches, and other public areas. Her collections are characterized by diverse textural elements and rich colors.
