Providence, RI--The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams each claimed 2006 BIG EAST Conference Cross Country titles on Friday, October 27, 2006 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) won the individual title on the men's side for the second-straight year with a time of 23:09. Fagan's time set a BIG EAST course record at Franklin Park, eclipsing the previous mark of 23:21 set by former Friar Keith Kelly `01. Fagan also set the course record in 2005, while capturing the BIG EAST title at Van Cortlandtt Park in Bronx, N.Y. Graduate student Aine Hoban (Wakefield, England) paced the Friar women with a second-place finish in a time of 20:31. It marks the third time in the history of the two programs that they have swept the team championship titles in the same year. PC's men's and women's teams each won the BIG EAST team titles in 1995 and 1996. The Providence College cross country staff, led by veteran Head Coach Ray Treacy, also was honored as the staff of the year on both the men's and women's sides.
