PC Faculty Promoted, Receive Tenure at Convocation

Providence, R.I.--Twenty current Providence College faculty members were spotlighted during Academic Convocation on September 16 on Hendricken Field.

Four faculty members were conferred professorship and four others were conferred associate professorship. Those conferred as professors were Dr. Joan R. Branham (art and art history), Dr. A. Cemal Ekin (marketing), Dr. Catherine E. Gordon-Seifert (music), and Rev. N. Joseph Torchia, O.P. (philosophy).

The associate professors are Dr. Giuseppe Butera (philosophy), Dr. Sharon A. Murphy (history), Dr. Despina D. Prassas (theology), and Dr. Thomas F. Strasser (art and art history).

Twelve faculty members were conferred tenure. They are Dr. John E. Abbruzzese, associate professor of philosophy; Dr. D. Russell Bailey, associate professor in the library; Dr. Patrick H. Breen, assistant professor of history; Dr. Piotr Chelminski, assistant professor of marketing; Dr. Fang Dong, assistant professor of economics; Dr. William P. Hogan, associate professor of English; Rev. Thomas P. McCreesh, O.P., associate professor of theology; Dr. Alli Nathan, associate professor of finance; Dr. Michael J. O'Neill, assistant professor of philosophy; Dr. Andrew J. Peach, associate professor of philosophy; Dr. Thomas F. Strasser, assistant professor of art history; and Rev. John C. Vidmar, O.P., associate professor of theology.
