Providence, R.I.--The fourth annual Cabernet Cabaret wine-tasting and auction at Providence College raised approximately $30,000 for the National Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. The event, which was attended by 215 people, was held July 18 in the Concannon Fitness Center's Ruane Atrium.

Cabernet Cabaret is the primary fundraiser for the scholarship fund--an endowed scholarship created to support students lacking the financial means to attend PC.

The event, which is a collaborative effort between the National Alumni Association and the Office of Alumni Relations, features wine tasting and an auction. The honorary chairpersons of this year's Cabernet Cabaret were Jim '84 and Danica '85 Iacoi.

Jim Iacoi is a founding partner and managing partner of the law firm Calenda & Iacoi, Ltd. of Providence and Westerly, R.I. Danica Iacoi currently serves as Rhode Island's House Speaker's Office Legislative Counsel. Jim Iacoi also has served as a member of the BOG.

Gasbarro's Wines in Providence's Federal Hill neighborhood, owned by Mark U. Gasbarro '97, president of the BOG, provided 50 wines from around the world, including many from Italy and Argentina, for the tasting. Hors d'oeuvres were provided by Pane e Vino restaurant, also located on Federal Hill.

Joseph Zito '76, host of The TV Maître d' television show in Rhode Island, served as auctioneer.
