Providence College Announces Appointment of
New Vice President for Institutional Advancement

EustisProvidence, RI -- Providence College has appointed William G. Eustis as the College's new vice president for institutional advancement. Most recently the executive director of development and alumni relations at Boston University School of Law, Eustis was named to the position following a national search.

Effective January 15, 2004, Eustis will oversee Providence College's Office of Institutional Advancement, previously known as the Office of Alumni/Development.

He will be responsible for fashioning and implementing a strategic direction for the College's annual and capital campaign programs, including major gift giving, corporation and foundation support, donor and alumni relations, stewardship, and the cultivation of current and prospective benefactors. In addition to his cabinet-level responsibilities as a vice president reporting directly to College President Phillip A. Smith, O.P., Eustis will serve as a member of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.

In announcing the appointment, Father Smith noted that Eustis, a native of Ridgefield, Connecticut, brings outstanding credentials to the position. "Throughout the search process, Bill made a very strong impression as a dynamic leader who exhibits a skillful blend of professionalism, experience, vision, and youthful energy," he said.

Eustis comes to Providence College having served the last 11 years in development at Boston University's School of Law. During the last five years, he secured $34 million in cash and pledges for a planned School of Law building and managed all aspects of fundraising for the school, including annual giving, capital giving, planned giving, and alumni relations.

"I am very intent on building on the successes of Providence College and its alumni," said Eustis. "I want to advance the goals of Father Smith and the Board of Trustees and reach out to the entire Providence College community." He views the institutional advancement office as "a bridge to recruit and secure the unique abilities, experiences, and financial resources of an alumni community committed to supporting the Providence College mission," said Eustis.

A 1990 graduate of Fordham University, Eustis worked as a development officer and marketing manager at Junior Achievement, Inc. in Boston for two years before joining Boston University. Most recently a resident of Duxbury, Massachusetts, he is relocating to the area with his wife and two children.
