  • A total of 1,210 degrees were awarded at the College's Ninety-First Commencement Exercises, as follows:
    • 992 baccalaureate degrees
    • 145 advanced (graduate) degrees
    • 68 School of Continuing Education degrees
    • 5 honorary degrees
  • Of the 992 baccalaureate degree recipients in the undergraduate day school, 240 graduates earned academic honors, as follows:
    • Summa Cum Laude: 42
    • Magna Cum Laude: 66
    • Cum Laude: 132
  • A total of 310 undergraduate day school students in the College's School of Business received degrees--an increase of 16 graduates over the Class of 2008. The school incorporates the disciplines of accountancy, finance, management, and marketing. The graduates represent 22 states, led by Massachusetts and New York with 114 and 67, respectively, and three countries: Canada, Ireland, and Nepal (one graduate each). The breakdown of graduates by discipline is: accountancy, 47; finance, 75; management, 78; and marketing, 110.
  • Thirteen accountancy majors-- the most of any of the four disciplines in the School of Business--will continue their advanced-degree education at PC in the 4 + 1 B.A./B.S./M.B.A. Program, and three others have applied for entry to the M.B.A. Program. Five of the 13 have accepted positions with KPMG, one of the "Big Four" accounting firms. They are: Aleksandra M. Azar of Southington, Conn., Jacqueline R. Cyr of Wakefield, R.I., Daniel E. Houde of West Warwick, R.I., Gerard F. Looser of White Plains, N.Y., and Peter J. Persampieri of Brewster, N.Y.
  • Twenty-three members of the Class of 2009 have been accepted to health professions schools this fall in the following fields: medical (allopathic and osteopathic), dental, optometry, nursing, public health, biological and biomedical sciences, and genetic counseling. The accepted schools include Harvard Medical School, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, New England College of Optometry, Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, Simmons School for Health Studies, and Yale School of Public Health.
  • The class established a school-record 45 percent participation rate in the annual Senior Giving Campaign to benefit the PC Fund, the College's annual fund. A total of 438 members of the class contributed to the campaign, eclipsing the previous participation record of 31 percent set by the Class of 2006. Seniors donated $26,499 this year.
  • There are 57 members of the Class of 2009 who qualify as "legacy students," meaning that at least one parent graduated from PC.
