Come home to Homecoming Weekend at PC on January 19-21

An event-packed Homecoming Weekend, scheduled for January 19-21, 2007, will include receptions, sporting events, an a capella concert, information and discussion about PC’s new admission policies, and a presentation about trends in wealth and philanthropy.

"Homecoming Weekend is a wonderful opportunity for alumni from all classes to return and reunite with alumni who went to school the year before them or the year after them," said Charles Borkoski ’71, immediate past president of the PC Alumni Association. "It’s also a great chance to see how the campus has changed and grown, in large part thanks to the generosity of Providence College alumni."

Among the weekend highlights, Homecoming sports activities begin on Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a men’s HOCKEY EAST game between PC and the University of Maine. Before the game, there will be an opportunity to meet and reconnect with friends at a reception in Raymond Dining Hall.

On Saturday at 11:00 a.m., Christopher P. Lydon ’83, associate vice president for admission and enrollment planning, will be in the Smith Center for the Arts to provide information about the admission, financial aid, and scholarship processes at the College.

PC’s decision to no longer require SAT or ACT scores for admission—making the application process "test-optional"—also will be discussed.

At 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Feinstein Academic Center function room (Room 400), "Wealth Management 101" advice will be offered. Professionals, including Paul M. Lenahan ’72, senior vice president of Bank of America, will discuss the benefits of financial and philanthropic planning.

On Saturday at noon, the Helen Bert Student-Athlete Lounge in Alumni Hall will be dedicated. A reception, with a buffet and a cash bar, will follow the ceremony. Elsewhere that afternoon in Alumni Hall, the PC women’s basketball team will host Marquette University in a BIG EAST Conference game at 2:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gym.

Following that contest, you’ll have plenty of time to make your way downcity to the Rhode Island Convention Center and a 5:00 p.m. reception preceding the men’s BIG EAST basketball game between PC and Rutgers University. That game starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
