Honorary degree panel seeks nominations

The Honorary Degree Committee invites alumni to submit nominations for honorary degree candidates for the College’s 2007 Commencement Exercises, which will take place on Sunday, May 20.

Nominations, along with any pertinent background information on the nominee, may be submitted to the committee chair, Patricia S. Vieira ’75, associate vice president for college relations and planning. The information may be e-mailed to her at pvieira@providence.edu.

The deadline for all submissions is December 15, 2006.

The committee will review nominations as they are received. If there is a Providence College contact who may serve as a liaison to facilitate a speedy response from an individual, please include that information in your nomination correspondence. 

The other committee members are: Amy Baker ’07, president of the Student Congress; the Honorable Frank Caprio ’58, chief judge of the Providence Municipal Court; Dr. Mario R. DiNunzio ’57, professor of history; Robert G. Driscoll, Jr., associate vice president for athletics and athletic director; Robert Ferreira ’83, assistant vice president for alumni relations in the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement; Daniel Cullinane ’07, president of the senior class; Dr. Michele M. Holt, assistant professor of music and director of vocal activities/music education.

Also, Rev. Thomas D. McGonigle, O.P., associate professor of history, special lecturer in theology, and director of the Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies; Ann Manchester-Molak ’75, assistant vice president for college relations and planning; Frank Sullivan ’65, vice president of Cameron Residential Mortgage Company; and David C. Wegrzyn, vice president for institutional advancement.
