Robert Ferreira ’83, who has served the College in alumni relations for 14 years, has been named assistant vice president for alumni relations in the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
His appointment was announced by David C. Wegrzyn, vice president for institutional advancement, during the Fall Faculty and Staff Meeting in Slavin Center ’64 Hall last month. Ferreira, who most recently served as executive director of alumni relations, began his new responsibilities on November 1.
As assistant vice president, he will oversee all alumni relations activities, including special events and affinity programs. He also will work directly with the alumni association’s National Board of Governors to direct and broaden its scope.
Wegrzyn praised Ferreira for his friendly manner and for playing a crucial role in facilitating Wegrzyn’s “smooth transition” to vice president. Wegrzyn, who served for 14 years at St. John’s University, joined PC on August 31, 2006.
Wegrzyn explained that one of his charges as vice president is to build a senior management team to accomplish his office’s goals and objectives. He emphasized that Ferreira will be “a key player” in moving forward. He called Ferreira’s promotion “richly deserved,” adding that he has a series of “great accomplishments” in his 14 years at PC.
“Bob is a tireless worker, an inspirational leader, an innovative thinker, and someone who exhibits the ideals of the Dominican mission,” Wegrzyn said.
Ferreira initially joined PC in 1985 as an alumni activities coordinator. He went on to become associate director of alumni/development before leaving in 1993. He returned in 2000 as assistant director of alumni/development and later was named director and then executive director of alumni relations.
His service to PC includes working as acting vice president for institutional advancement for 10 months prior to Wegrzyn’s appointment.
