On Thursday, October 18, the Department of Art and Art History will open a photography exhibit honoring Richard N. Elkington, retiring associate professor of photography, for 35 years of artistic vision and teaching excellence.
The exhibit, 35 Years of Vision: The Students of Richard N. Elkington, will run through Friday, December 7, at the Reilly Art Gallery in the Smith Center for the Arts.
The exhibit celebrates the works of 21 alumni/ae who have maintained a passion for photography and fine art through their professional careers and vocations. It commemorates the retirement and legacy of Elkington as a professor and mentor at Providence College.
In an effort to showcase some of the outstanding works of PC graduates, a catalog is being produced. The catalog is a tangible representation of the years of dedicated service of Elkington and all the faculty and staff of the Department of Art and Art History. It is also the most recent in a series of distinguished catalogs, written by PC undergraduate students to showcase exhibits, that have enhanced the cultural recognition of the College.
