Alumni to march in St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Alumni, family members, and friends are invited to join the Providence College Alumni Club of New York in marching with the PC delegation in the 245th annual New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Friday, March 17.

This largest and oldest parade in the world features more than 1,000 marchers, 200 delegations, and bands from 27 states processing down Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. Among the notable alumni participants from PC will be Raymond L. Flynn ’63 & ’84Hon., the former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican and the former mayor of Boston, Mass., and John Hennessy ’82, the voice of the New Jersey Devils’ men’s professional hockey team on WFAN radio.

The PC delegation, led by the College’s ROTC Color Guard, will gather in front of #59 West 46th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues, at noon. The group will begin marching at 12:40 p.m.—directly in the middle of the locally televised portion of the event on NBC. The first 100 marchers to register will receive black and white Providence College parade sashes. A post-parade reception is planned.

To register or for more information, contact Patricia M. Montegari ’94 at triciamonte@yahoo.com or Ken Kraetzer ’79 at 914-630-3457. Voluntary contributions of $10 per marcher are appreciated to help with parade fees.
