Nearly 400 Providence College alumni and undergraduates participated as career nights were held in Boston, Mass., and New York City on consecutive nights in January.
On January 10, approximately 70 alumni and more than 120 students from the classes of 2007 to 2010 gathered at the State Street Financial Center in Boston for the Annual Boston Career Night, hosted by the Greater Boston Alumni Club. The evening was highlighted by remarks from keynote speakers Kevin Carroll ’87 and Ralph DiPisa ’79, both of Phillips DiPisa, an executive search firm specializing in healthcare executive search and life sciences executive search.
In addition to discussing their career experiences with Boston-area students from PC, alumni shared similar business experiences and advice with one another during a networking reception before Career Night began.
On the next night, January 11, nearly 200 alumni and students attended Career Night NYC at 399 Park Avenue. The event is a longstanding tradition of the PC Alumni Club of New York and was hosted by E. James Mulcahy, Jr. ’66, a member of PC’s Board of Trustees.
Alumni from career fields including finance, media and publishing, education, and advertising gathered to help sophomores, juniors, and seniors get a jumpstart on internships, summer jobs, and networking after graduation.
Guest speakers Kimberly Atwater ’93, director of corporate affairs for Citigroup Global Wealth Management, and John Wallace ’88, executive vice president of NBC/Universal, offered career guidance and strongly suggested that internships and informational interviews are keys to success. They recommended that students take advantage of College resources, especially the services offered by the Office of Career Services.
