Studio Art
The Studio Art program stresses a strong foundation in the fine arts, as well as the liberal arts, on which to build careers in the art field. The student is also prepared for graduate study leading to a M.F.A. in Studio Art or a M.A.T. in Art Education.
By the end of the sophomore year, Studio Art majors choose one area of concentration from Ceramics, Digital Imaging, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking or Sculpture. The Studio Major takes courses not only in his or her field of concentration, but is also encouraged to experiment in other media to broaden his or her knowledge of the studio arts, and to form a foundation for further development.

Applying
Portfolio:A portfolio is not required; however,
students with an art background may prefer to send a portfolio of artwork as
part of the application to Providence College.
We prefer a digital portfolio on a CD/DVD, with 10 - 20 images formatted as JPEGs (or you can put them into a Powerpoint or PDF). File size of
individual images should not exceed 1MB. The
images should represent your
best recent work (jr/sr year
is best) in any medium. If
you have a few examples of
drawings done from
observation (not from photos)
we like to see that, but it's not required.
This collection of images
may be placed in a plastic sheet of film slides or on a CD, and is
attached to the application dossier or sent separately to the
Admission's Office.
