Art History

The program in Art History is designed for undergraduates interested in a liberal arts education, as well as for those preparing for graduate study in the field. The Art History Division emphasizes the historical, cultural, and formal contexts of art.

The culmination of the course of study in Art History comes during the senior year. All Art History majors are required to complete a thesis paper on a specific art historical concept. During this capstone program students are assigned a writing tutor and work to further develop their research and writing skills. The students present their theses to the faculty of the Department and refine their work, which is published in the Departmental Art Journal annually.
